Let’s talk about overcoming friction.
It's one thing when our ideas are readily accepted by others, but what do we do when our ideas are met with friction or flat-out rejected?
I was asked this question recently by a Chief Strategy Officer when running a workshop for senior executives.
For some, the answer is data. Just show them the data, and they’ll be compelled to agree.
For others, it’s to escalate. If someone disagrees, go over their head and convince their leadership to compel them.
For others, it’s to build a wave of momentum with influencers across the organization.
Any of these may work, depending on the situation, but they’re less effective, especially long-term, than the approach I’m going to share with you.
